Hey everybody!! We are room 25. We are year 5 and 6 with Miss Guy as our teacher. We love to dance, sing, draw and hang out having fun.

On Thursday 22^nd of October, a group of Year 5/6 students went to a touch tournament at Gallaher to represent Randwick Park School. The Year 6 team played six games, winning four and losing two. The Year 5 team played six games, winning five and drawing one. Thank you to Mr Ward and Miss White for being our coaches, and to the whanau who came to support us.

UNDER 45 KG AUCKLAND CHAMPS!

On the 22nd of October 2009, the under 45kg league team participated in the Auckland Primary Schools Championship at Cornwall Park. Our pool games were a loss to Manurewa East and big wins against Three Kings and Birkdale. This meant we made the semifinals where we played Kelston Primary. We played awesome and tackled hard but drew the game. Unfortunately, Kelston got to go through to the finals because they qualified a place higher in the pool games. We were really proud because this meant we were 3^rd equal in the tournament. Our players of day were Chas Ngaha (24) and Felix Fotunga (25). Thank-you to all the whanau who came and supported us at the tournament.

SCHOOLS SHOULD HAVE PLAYTIME!

In my opinion children in primary school should have a playtime.

The most important reason for children to have break times is that they get a break from learning and are refreshed. Kids need this because it helps them not to get head aches and they are ready to learn.

Secondly, children in primary schools should have some time to eat and drink. Having a playtime means children can concentrate better when they get back to class because they have been refreshed and ready to learn again.

Lastly, children are able to have good relationships with others and co-operate well with others. Children should also learn to make friends and get along with each other by having a break.

Therefore I think primary school children should have playtimes and lunchtimes.

PLAYTIME SHOULD NOT BE BANNED!

In my opinion, lunchtime shouldn’t be cancelled for primary schools.

The most important reason for this is children need to have a break. This helps students stretch their minds. This means that students will be able to think better and will be more active after running around.

Secondly, playtimes mean that teachers can get a rest from long teaching periods and to talk about their day while the students are having fun. This means that teachers are refreshed when they come back to class.

Finally, playtimes mean that students can learn new things or games and these can be experienced outside. Students will also learn to co-operate with others.

Therefore, students in primary schools should have a playtime.

In my opinion primary schools should not ban playtime!!!

The most important reason for playtime not be banned is that students need a break from learning, because people can get tired of doing schoolwork. They might not listen to talkative teachers and just talk with their friends.

Secondly, I think playtime should not be banned because students need to learn playground values. One reason for this is that it is good to co-operate and communicate with others. It will also be dangerous inside and outside school if we didn’t learn playground values.

Finally, the last reason is because we should be able to have fun and get fit. This will happen by playing with our friends, not just classmates but schoolmates too. If we don’t have fun, school will be boring and students won’t attend school. Playtime is fun for students and also the teachers because they get to have cup of tea with their friends.

Therefore it is better if playtime is not banned in any type of school.

My opinion , playtime at Randwick Park School should not be cancelled.

The most important reason that playtime is good is that it helps student’s thinking and working. Having a break for play time means that students come back into class ready to learn. It is good for our bodies because it is a chance to for students to keep fit.

In addition to this, children need to play for thirty minutes or more because it is also exercises our brains too. This means we are ready for learning time.

Lastly, playtimes give us a break from learning. Every child needs breaks because if you don’t have a break your mind will overflow and you can’t have a rest. If you overflow your mind you can’t think clearly and properly.

Therefore, I believe that playtimes should not be banned.

The most important reason we should have playtimes is so that students get a break from learning, because when they’re bored they will get frustrated. Having a break helps students have a focused mind.

Secondly, playtimes give students a chance to play sports and games. Students need to use their energy and try different kinds of games. They can try getting into tournament teams and might win medals. This is important because students need to have fun.

Finally, playtimes also mean teachers get a break. This gives them a chance to get students spare sheets or have a coffee or cup of tea. They can also have time to see what to teach next. They are refreshed when they come back to class.

Therefore, I believe that schools should have playtimes.

The most important reason that students should have playtime is for exercise. Firstly, students need playtimes because they need to exercise so they can be fit and have healthy bodies. Exercise is really important to New Zealand primary schools because the students need to work their muscles.

Secondly, playtimes should not be cancelled because teachers need to have a break. Teachers need breaks from teaching so she or he is not grumpy. They also need to have their morning tea and lunch.

Finally, students need Vitamin D from the sunshine because it helps them grow and helps keep them in a good mood. This means that students are ready to learn and make good progress at school.

Therefore, I strongly believe that children should have playtime.

YEAR 5/6 LEAGUE TOURNAMENT:

On Thursday 3th September, two teams went to Mountfort Park to represent Randwick Park School at the Year 5/6 League tournament. The Open weight team played three pool games for a win against Leabank, a draw against Manurewa West and a loss to Finlayson Park School. This meant we reached the semi-final where we defeated Manurewa West. In the final, we were beaten by Finlayson Park. The Open Weight player of the day was Edward Afu from Room 10. The Under 45kg team also played three pool games and were unbeaten against Manurewa East, Leabank, and Weymouth Primary. In the semi final we beat Finalyson Park before being defeated by Manurewa East in the final. The Under 45kg player of the day was Richie Bloomfield from Room 25. Thank-you to all the whanau who came along to support us during the day.

SAVAGE:

My alien's name is Savage and I call him that because he looks funny with his four eyes. Around one of his eyes he has light green spikes. He has a beard, three legs, and has round arms and no nose. My alien lives on a blue planet with holes and sharp knives around them, so other aliens can't get in. They like eating fish and other types of meat. He has a square eye on his chest. He feels soft like paper. He likes making new friends to play with.

DRAGIYO

Hi, my name is Dragiyo. I live on the planet Dragones. I'm a cute little monster alien that has whiskers. My house is full of pictures of me because I own my own house. I've got a job, it's called Dragco. Everything in my world starts it starts with drag! My friends include Wall'e from a different planet - he really likes chocolate! My other friend is called Draco - his planet is at Rainbow's End. I wear different colourful flip-flops (shoes) everyday. Well it's getting late - see you later!

Umpadonkey

Hi, my name is Umpadonkey. I come from planet Glumpa Land. I'm a very slow walker because I have no legs but I find a way to move. I have no clothes or mouth. I feel hot, slimy and gooey. My eyes are very colourful and can change if I am angry, sad or happy. I have a big green nose. My lifestyle is pretty yuck. I eat grubs and worms for breakfast lunch and dinner. I live in a house full of heaps and heaps of animals with my Mum and Dad. Well goodbye!
